Grammar Schools

Grammar school students have 9 schools in South Buffalo to choose from, plus City Honors and the Academy for Visual and Performing Arts which are special citywide schools.

Locally we have four public, two charter and three Catholic grammar schools.

All four Buffalo Public Schools received extensive building improvements in 2011 totaling over $73 million.

Our 3 Catholic Schools have recently teamed up under the banner of “South Buffalo Catholic School” and continue to provide an excellent education as well as a moral foundation for their young students.

High Schools

The options for High School Students are practically endless. All 15 Buffalo Public High Schools are available, plus a large variety of Catholic Schools, including two that are an important part of South Buffalo.

The Public Schools have a new and greatly expanded Career and Technical Education System, which includes over 20 program areas such as Business Administration, Horticulture, Engineering Technology, Financial management, and Building Trades to name a few.

Bishop Timon and Mount Mercy Academy are more than just a place to get an outstanding education, they are deeply woven into the history of South Buffalo. Mt. Mercy was formed in 1904 and is still an all girl’s school. Timon was established in 1946 and is a school for boys. Both have a great reputation for education and athletics.
